The process begins with an overview of the project details, including:
- Whether it’s a new build or a renovation
- How big the space is or will be
- How the space is or will be laid out
- What structural elements need to be included in or removed from the space
- What the space will be used for
This is also the time for Denovo Design to get to know the client’s preferences and design sensibilities — for example, do you like open-concept floor plans, or are separate rooms or offices better suited to your needs?
Once we have a thorough understanding of the requirements and expectations, we can create or adapt a design to meet them.
The first stage of the actual design is the concept. This is where Denovo Design takes the project’s parameters and the client’s preferences and outlines a design scheme that will satisfy both. Clients may like one of our existing potential designs, which we would then adapt to their layout and needs. Or, we may create a custom design based on the client’s specific project. Either way, at this stage, we agree on the basic elements of the project.
A conceptual design is just preliminary. While we may discuss the finer details of the overall design, the drawings at this stage simply outline the project’s key features and elements.
Once the concept for the design has been approved, 3D modeling can help to flesh it out. This is a very important stage in the Denovo Design process because it allows the client to fine-tune the design so that it exactly represents their vision. Using a variety of state-of-the-art 3D modeling software, Denovo Design experts provide high-quality renderings of the conceptual design. The result is a photo-realistic image of the final project. Clients can then see what the design will actually look like and make any changes they feel will get it closer to the reality they envisioned. Making changes to a 3D model is easier, faster, and cheaper than making alterations during or after construction, so 3D visualization can ultimately save time and money.
Once the 3D model represents exactly what the client wants, it can be shared along with the drawings so that everyone involved in construction shares the same vision.
Based on the 3D visualization, Denovo Design’ certified professionals will produce detailed drawings for use during permit applications and construction. These architectural drawings show the confirmed dimensions, layout, and features of the project. Building Services generally requires such detailed drawings before issuing a permit, and contractors and construction professionals will use these drawings as the basis for their work.
Architectural drawings generally consist of floor plans for each level of the project, elevations for each side of the project, and detailed plans for any major structural or mechanical elements (such as elevators).
The length of each stage and the overall process depends on the complexity of the project. For more information about the process or how Denovo Design can meet your particular needs, contact us today.
